How to find the RTSP URL for an EZVIZ camera

EZVIZ is Hikvision's consumer brand, which is why the plumbing looks familiar if you've ever set up a Hikvision camera: the same port and admin username, and on some models the same /Streaming/Channels/101 path works as a fallback. The consumer positioning cuts the other way too. The range is built around the app and the cloud, and RTSP has been quietly retreating from it for a few years, so whether your camera can do this depends on the model and the firmware it's running.

The URL and where the verification code lives

The pattern is rtsp://admin:<verification-code>@<camera-ip>:554/h264/ch1/main/av_stream for the main stream, with /h264/ch1/sub/av_stream for the lighter sub stream. The username is always admin, and the password is the verification code, six capital letters printed on the label on the camera's body or base (the same sticker that carries the QR code you scanned at setup). If that URL is refused, try the Hikvision-style rtsp://admin:<verification-code>@<camera-ip>:554/Streaming/Channels/101, which some models answer instead; 102 is the sub stream there.

The app toggle on newer models

Since around 2023, EZVIZ firmware has shipped with RTSP disabled by default, and the switch lives in the app rather than on the camera. The route that works for most people: open the EZVIZ app, go to your profile, then Settings, then LAN Live View, let it find the camera on your network, open the camera and its settings gear, and look for Local Service Settings with an RTSP toggle inside. Two caveats from user reports: the toggle simply doesn't appear for some models, and on a few (the C3X is a known case) the setting doesn't survive a reboot, so the stream can vanish after a power cut.

If your model can't do RTSP at all

Some recent EZVIZ cameras and firmware versions have no RTSP at all, toggle or otherwise. If the setting isn't in the app and neither URL pattern connects, that's the likely state of your hardware, and no amount of URL guessing changes it. The practical stopgaps are uploading exported clips to Svid instead of running a live feed, or using a spare phone as the live camera while the EZVIZ unit carries on with its app duties.

Using it with Svid

Once the URL plays in VLC, paste it into Svid's Add screen. Svid captures the stream server-side, so there's no new hardware and nothing left running locally; the feed is described frame by frame and becomes searchable and checkable like any other footage. What's the password in an EZVIZ RTSP URL?

The camera's verification code, six capital letters printed on its sticker, with admin as the username. Your EZVIZ app account password is a separate cloud credential and won't authenticate the stream. On a few models, users report a locally set admin password working where the code doesn't, so that's the other thing to try.

Why did my EZVIZ RTSP stream stop after a firmware update?

EZVIZ has been disabling RTSP by default in firmware since around 2023. Check LAN Live View in the app for the RTSP toggle and switch it back on; on some models it also resets after a reboot, which is worth knowing before you blame the network.

Does the camera need to be on the same network as Svid?

Only while you're finding the IP address and testing the URL locally. Once Svid is capturing the stream server-side, the camera just needs a reachable route to it, not a network shared with your own device.

Is RTSP free on EZVIZ, or part of a subscription?

Free where the hardware supports it; it's a local feature of the camera with no cloud plan involved. The catch is availability rather than cost: on models where EZVIZ has removed it, no subscription brings it back.
