How to stop people entering restricted areas
Draw the boundary once and Svid flags whenever someone's visible inside it outside the times or people you've allowed for. A plant room, a roof, a rear yard or any zone that shouldn't have foot traffic gets a watcher instead of a hopeful sign on the door.
A sign that says staff only relies on someone reading it and caring. A camera doesn't need either. Restricted Zone Intrusion watches the boundary you set and flags anyone visible inside it who isn't supposed to be there, whether that's out of hours on a loading bay or any time at all on a roof nobody should be walking on.
How the check works
Restricted Zone Intrusion is one of the alerting checks: it judges a window of recent frames rather than a single image, so someone genuinely present in the zone reads as an event and not a false trip from a shadow crossing the frame once. It's switched on per camera against the areas you point cameras at, and the times or exceptions you've allowed for are part of how it's set up.
It flags that someone is present. It doesn't say who. There's no facial recognition, no biometric identification, and no attempt to follow a person from one camera to another or work out who they are from their outfit or build, that kind of tracking isn't part of Svid anywhere in the product. What you get is a fact worth acting on: a person is in a zone that shouldn't have anyone in it right now.

Point a camera at the zone
A plant room door, a roof access point, a rear yard, a staff-only corridor. An existing RTSP camera or an uploaded feed, no new hardware.

Set the hours or people it should allow for
A loading bay might be fine for staff during a shift and off limits overnight. The check is configured around that, not a blanket rule.

On screen, by email, or by webhook into a messaging system already in use, so someone actually sees it rather than a log filling up unread.
What it isn't
- Can it tell us who entered the zone?
- No. It flags that someone is present in the zone. There's no facial recognition or biometric identification anywhere in Svid, and no tracking of who a person is, only that a person is there when they shouldn't be.
- Does it lock doors or trigger an alarm automatically?
- No. It raises an alert on screen, by email, or by a JSON webhook. Wiring that webhook into an access-control panel or alarm system is something you set up on your end; Svid doesn't control doors directly.
- Can it allow certain people in during certain hours?
- Yes. The zone is configured with the hours or exceptions that make sense for that site, so a plant room can be fine for staff on shift and flagged the moment it isn't supposed to have anyone in it.
- Do we need new cameras to use this?
- No. It runs on the RTSP camera, upload or live feed you already point at the zone, the same footage the rest of Svid watches.
