Slip Hazard Detection: the wet floor before the fall
Slip Hazard Detection is a Svid check that watches your existing cameras for spills, wet floors and other slip conditions, and alerts staff so the hazard gets cleaned up before anyone falls on it. It flags the condition, not the accident.
What it does
Svid describes every frame of the footage it watches, and Slip Hazard Detection is a paid check over those descriptions that looks specifically at floors: a spilt drink, a leak from a fridge, rain tracked through an entrance, a mopped area left without a sign. "Someone slipped in the entrance" is already a search you can run on Svid after the fact. This check exists so you never need to run it, because the spill got flagged while it was still just a spill.
The gap it closes
Spills mostly get found one of two ways: a customer mentions it on the way past, or someone falls. The camera saw it happen either way, sitting there in the recording nobody watched, because nobody watches a floor camera on the off-chance. This check is the difference between that footage existing and someone actually being told in time to do something about it.
What an alert looks like
An email with a plain-English description and a link to the exact moment, or a JSON webhook straight into whatever housekeeping or maintenance channel your site already uses. A typical alert reads something like "liquid on the floor near the lobby entrance, 14:32, no wet floor sign visible." The alert is a flag for a person, not an instruction; someone still needs to walk over with a mop and a sign.
Where it runs
Enabled per camera: the entrance and the kitchen pass on, the office stays off. It works on RTSP feeds, uploaded files, video URLs, or a live phone camera pointed at a known trouble spot. It runs on recorded footage too, which is useful for checking how long a past spill sat before anyone dealt with it.

- Fall / Slip Detection tells you someone has already gone down. Slip Hazard Detection flags the wet floor beforehand, so ideally nobody does. They're separate checks and most sites that care about one care about the other.
- What counts as a hazard?
- Spills, leaks, wet entrances and similar visible floor conditions on the cameras you enable it on. It's judging what's on the floor, not predicting who might walk through it.
- Can it help after a claim comes in?
